Tales of the Warrior

The Beginning

Episode 1

The day dawned brightly, birds chirped happily, and all seemed well. Well almost. Standing in the middle of the road from Doria to the Empire was a young man of perhaps no more than 19 and he was surrounded. He was perhaps six feet in height with black hair, lean but with a fit look to him, and he was facing down eight bandits each with a nasty look on his face.

  Bandit Leader-"Ok boy give us your money."

  Shintaro-"I'm not a boy and my name is Shintaro Makai."

  Bandit 1-"We don't care who you are just hand us your money and maybe we'll let you live,"

Shintaro stood feet spread looking at each bandit in turn.

  Shintaro-"This is a bad idea you know."

  Bandit Leader-"What are you talking about kid! Don't you know who we are?"

  Shintaro-"No. Why should I?"

  Bandit Leader (in surprise)-"Wha wha what?? You've never heard of the Dragon Lords? Where have you been kind under some rock?"

  Shintaro-"Nope doesn't ring a bell. Now if you will please let me through."

  Bandit Leader (mad)-"Sorry kid the only place your going is to hell. Get him!"

The bandits move to attack. With some lightning quick movements (throws, punches, and kicks) Shintaro easily beats the bandits, and whistling walks on his way.

Later that evening Shintaro sits at a table chowing down catching the eyes of all the girls and the jealous glower of several of the men. In the middle of taking a drink from a tankard one of the village headmen approach. The headman is in his middling years.

Headman-"Excuse me young man but are you by chance a mercenary?"

Shintaro-"Not as such. Why do you ask." Taking several more bites barely looking up.

Headman-"Ah. Would you by chance be willing to take a job for the city?"

Shintaro-"Sure. Whatcha need doing?"

Headman (somewhat nervous)-"Ah well there is an evil wizard who has been terrorizing us. He comes around taking our money, crops, and children for his servants from time to time. We would be willing to pay you handsomely of course."

Shintaro (still eating and drinking)-"No need."

Headman-"Surely we can give you some kind of reward for doing this."

Shintaro (looking up finally)-"You can just pay my bill."

The barmaid gives the Headman the bill for Shintaro and he is somewhat startled. The next morning Shintaro whistling makes his way north to where the wizard was said to be leaving the village and the Headman behind (who is still staring at the bill by the way). Finding the wizards tower is easy it lies in the hills a half days journey away. Standing at the tower gates are a couple of guards.

Guard 1-"Ok that's far enough. The wizard is not accepting visitors today."

Shintaro (a disappointed look on his face)-"Are you sure I really gotta talk to him. You see the villagers back that way really could use tier children back, and probably money for the food he took too."

Guard 2 (laughing)-"Are you for real kid? The wizard takes what he wants."

Shintaro-"Then I'm afraid I'll have to stop him."

Guard 1 (surprised)-"What are you insane?"

Shintaro-"No, but the villagers asked me to do this thing for them and I can't just let them down."

Guard 2 (laughing)-"Ha. Only a Mage or a Kinto could get through."

Shintaro (smiles)-"Fortunate for me then!"

Guards 1 & 2 (surprised)-"Huh?"

Shintaro-"Check this out."

Shintaro then precedes to punch one guard will laying the other one out with a kick. Whistling he walks through the gate. In the court yard he finds children hard at labor in various gardens being overseen buy a few guard. Upon seeing this Shintaro grows angry and shouts out a challenge to the guards, and all eyes turn on him.

Shintaro-"Hey! What kind of person treats kids this way? This is unforgivable!"

A battle ensues between the young Kinto and the guards..one that at its furious climax causes the wizard to arrive.

Wizard-"Who are you? What are you doing here?"

Shintaro (determined look in his eye)-"You are responsible for these children and stealing food from the villagers?"

Wizard (laughs at him and throws a fireball)-You plan on stopping me?

Shintaro (moves so fast he blurs out of sight as he dodges the fireballs)-"Give up now villain you are only making it worse for yourself!"

The wizard laughs at him throwing fireballs and firelances. A lance of flame suddenly shoots out and catches Shintaro in the chest dropping him to his knees.

Wizard (rejoicing)-"Now you die boy!"

Shintaro (clutching the burn mark a determined look on his face)-"I won't let you beat me!"

As a fireball is shot out he suddenly blurs and appears behind the wizard and kicks him square in the head dropping him towards the ground. Shintaro blurs again meeting him at the ground and thrusts a punch up at him as the wizards falls to the ground. The blow is hard enough to knock him into the tower wall and embedding him in it. The wizard doesn't move again. The kids rejoice and he leads them home.

Shintaro is walking away the setting sun in the background.

Boy-"Hey big brother wait up!"

Shintaro (turning around seeing the small sandy haired boy)-"What are you doing?"

Boy-"I want to go with you big brother and learn to be a Kinto just like you!"

Shintaro-"Won't your parents worry?"

Boy-"I'm an orphan."

Shintaro-"What's your name?"

Boy-"Katsuya."

Shintaro-"Well try to keep up Katsuya."

Katsuya-"Yippie!"

And so ends our first adventure. What will happen to Shintaro and Katsuya? Find out in our next installment!

 

Rinhold Revisited??

Episode 3

Shintaro and the boy Katsuya (who always seems to wear long sleeved high necked clothing) are traveling the Northern Ranges. In a surprisingly familiar area to Episode 2 "The Home Town Girl" Why cause it is. Didn't the title give it away? The young Shintaro a former Kinto Monk and the mysterious 12 year old Katsuya are on their way to Rinhold after hearing about the dragon and other evil monster attacks to lend aide if needed.

 Katsuya-"Big brother why are we going all the way up here...it's to cold."

 Shin-"You cold in those clothes?

 Kat (shivering casting Shintaro a dirty look)-"Well?"

 Shin-"I told you Katsu we're here to help out the villagers."

 Kat (sighing in disgust)-"Why big brother? It's not our problem."

 Shin (looking over his shoulder at Kat)-"Like it wasn't when I rescued you and the others from the evil fire mage?"

 Kat (looks thoughtfully)-"You're right big brother it's just I'm sooooooo coooold!"

Shintaro and Katsuya laugh as they make their way to Rinhold. Unbeknownst to them however they are being watched. Back in the bushes an orc runner takes off to a ridge over looking the valley and grunts something in orcish to a youngish looking man...he looks something like this.

 

 Man-"So the boy who defeat Pyrus is here in our neck of the woods is he? Well we must give him a proper greeting. I'm sure the Fire Mage would have wanted it that way.

Breaks away as the Man laughs evilly to a sun set over the town of Rinhold. shin and Kat walking up to the front gates just before the close.

 Guard-"Welcome to Rinhold!"

 Shin-"Thanks!"

Break away to an inn/tavern where Kat and Shin are eating MASS quantities of food when what appears to be a workmen joining their table

 Worker-"Mind if I join you?"

 Shin-"Not at all."

 Worker (amazed)-"That's a pair of healthy apatites you two have."

 Kat-"Been awhile since we had a good meal sir. We've been traveling for days!"

 Worker-" Um hum. And what may I ask brings you to Rinhold?"

 Shin (pauses in the ravening)-"We heard about what happened and thought we'd offer any help we can give. I'm a Kinto monk."

 Worker-"I see. Well things have been pretty quiet since the village hero too care of that dragon but we can always need hands rebuilding!"

 Shin-"Of course we'd love to help!"

 Kat-"But big-"

 Shin-"Could you tell me of this village hero maybe I could meet him and trade techniques!"

 Worker-"I'm sorry but she left a few weeks back heading south west on a journey of her own. She was a girl from this town visiting after her completion of mage school."

 Shin (a little crest fallen)-"No matter we will do all we can to help."

 Worker-"Thanks we're glad for the help."

Over the next little bit we see Shin and Kat working on various rebuilding projects...taking breaks laughing and playing. Then we break away to the bad guy as he is training honing his martial skills as a goblin enters and grunts something in orcish.

 Man-"So they tarry in the village? Excellent! I'll be rid of two birds with one stone! The village will soon be under our control and the one who defeated the mage Pyrus will be no more!"

Breaks away laughing evilly back to the village. It is once again sunset at the village and it has been a long hard day for Kat and Shin as they trudge back to their room at the inn.

 Kat-"Are we leaving now? The village is almost fixed and I can hear the open road calling me!"

 Shin-" Soon enough when-"

Shintaro is interrupted as explosions detonate along the walls of the village and a horde of goblins and orcs pour though. Floating above the walls is the Man standing on the back of a wyvern supervising the villages destruction. The village militia runs out though badly out numbered Shin turns to Kat.

 Shin-"Get some place safe Katsuya!"

Then he turns and runs into the battle taking out goblins left an right using the cool funky anime fighting but is till hopelessly out numbered when Kat turns up.

 Shin-"I said get some place safe!"

 Kat-"No big brother its my turn to help you."

A fire lights in Kat's eyes as his shirt rips to shreds scaly red wings growing from his back...he begins to morph in to a 4 foot tall red dragon and then goes around spewing fire and ripping into goblins and orcs. the man has been watching and seeing the battle take a turn for the worse drops down to face Shintaro.

 Man (sneering)-"Well if it isn't the guy how attacked and killed my old friend Pyrus."

 Shin (puzzled)-"Who?"

 Man (angry)-"Don't pretend you don't know the fire mage Pyrus!"

 Shin-"Oh the guy how was harming the kids and the village. He deserved his fate and so will you."

 Man-"No one can defeat Khaz the Kinto!"

Shintaro looks puzzled at hearing the term Kinto

 Shin-"You a Kinto? How could you betray the order!"

 Khaz-"I see you too were brought up by them...well then brother let us test each others skills!"

 Shin-"I must defeat you."

A anime martial arts battle of DBZ proportions ensues before the two separate breathing heavily.

 Khaz-"I'll give you credit kid. You're good but not good enough."

Khaz then performs a move that launches a small ball of Ki at Shintaro who narrowly avoids it.

 Shin-"Now it's my turn!"

Focusing on Shintaro. An energy aura builds and then crackles into a medium sized ball of energy that he launches at Khaz. Khaz blocks it but is seriously injured. He drops to one knee and says that this battle is far from over and summons his wyvern and flees in true villain fashion. Shin drops to a knee and makes the victory "V".

The next day dawns as and Katsuya and Shintaro are parting ways Shin staying to help the villagers and Katsuya expressing a desire to meet this girl who killed a dragon. Shin wants to know what Kat is but Kat promises to tell him next time they meet. Kat morphs into his dragon form an flys southwest.
